Justin Timberlake:
In the nearly twenty years since his professional career began, Justin Timberlake has been known as an extremely talented actor, dancer, and pop singer. He's become an icon in today's society and his movies, albums, and tour dates have made him one of the US's most prominent celebrities. Both during his career with acclaimed boy band N'Sync and in his solo career, Timberlake has released six platinum albums and won as many Grammy Awards. Timberlake's music career has recently been put on the back burner due to his hugely popular acting career, which means no new albums or tour dates in 2011.
A brief yet successful stint on The New Mickey Mouse Club led to Timberlake's successful audition for the boy band, N'Sync. As one half of the group's lead singers (JC Chasez being the other), Justin achieved international super stardom that included sold-out tour dates and albums that flew off the shelves. As N'Sync was breaking up in 2002, Timberlake released his debut solo album, Justified, which featured a hip hop sound thanks to producers The Neptunes and Timbaland. Singles like "Cry Me a River" and "Rock Your Body" successfully launched his solo career and the album itself won two Grammys. Justin's second solo album, FutureSex/LoveSounds faired even better, breaking digital sales records and winning another two Grammys.
While Justin Timberlake hasn't released an album in five years, his collaborations production work has produced acclaimed music. As he has no tour dates in 2011, fans will simply have to wait patiently for this pop prince's return to his solo career.
Jay-Z: Shawn Corey Carter -- better known as rapper Jay-Z -- has built a hip hop empire through hit albums, elaborate tour dates, and producing. The winner of 13 Grammy Awards has been a mentor to rappers like Kanye West, as well as a husband and collaborator to superstar Beyoncé. Even though Jay-Z is one of the most wealthy rappers in America, he's still releasing albums like his upcoming collaboration with Kanye West, Watch the Throne, and an upcoming solo album in 2011. With all the music he's making lately, Jay-Z has only one tour date in 2011; but fans can be sure it will be an experience to remember.
Jay-Z's years as a teenager were spent going rap battling with LL Cool J, selling crack, and performing as a hype man for Big Daddy Kane. In 1995, he co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records and achieved mainstream success with his 1998 album, Vol. 2…Hard Knock Life. The album went five times platinum, won a Grammy for Best Rap Album, and led to tour dates in front of screaming fans. Jay-Z scored another hit with his 2003 The Black Album, which was followed by a Madison Square Garden tour date with a dozen or so guest stars. He made headlines in 2008 when he became the controversial headliner for the rock oriented Glastonbury Festival, but put all criticisms to rest with a hugely applauded performance.
As fans eagerly await the release of Jay-Z's two upcoming albums, fans attending Rock In Rio this October will be treated to an unforgettable performance by the rapper. Of course fans can expect more tour dates in 2011 once the album is released, so check Eventful for all the latest news.
